Gov. Northam’s First Veto is a Proposed Gun Law

Gov. Ralph Northam issued his first veto of the year Tuesday, rejecting a proposal backed by Republicans that would put pressure on state police to expedite concealed handgun permits for out-of-state residents.

The proposal, sponsored by Del. Brenda Pogge, R-James City, would automatically grant concealed handgun permits to nonresidents if the Virginia State Police doesn’t review their applications within 90 days.
