Democrat hypocrisy at its best. While Delegates Guzman, Ayala, Carroll-Foy, Carter, and Roem advocate for eliminating political donations from large businesses, the Democratic Party of Virginia gladly accepts big money from Mike Bloomberg and groups like Fair Fight, which are funded by huge business interests.
The recent report of Large Donations as reported to the Virginia Board of Election reveals that Michael Bloomberg donated $50,000 to the Democratic Party of Virginia (DPVA). Since October 2019, Blooberg’s contributions to the DPVA totaled $160,000.
“Fair Fight,” an anti-voter suppression group sent the DPVA $101,666 in the first three months of 2020. Fair Fight is based in Georgia and led by Stacey Abrams, who narrowly lost her race for Governor in 2018. According to their website, fairfight.com —
“Voter suppression of voters of color and young voters is a scourge our country faces in states across the nation. Georgia’s 2018 elections shown a bright light on the issue with elections that were rife with mismanagement, irregularities, unbelievably long lines and more, exposing both recent and also decades-long actions and inactions by the state to thwart the right to vote. Georgians and Americans are fighting back. Fair Fight Action engages in voter mobilization and education activities and advocates for progressive issues; in addition Fair Fight Action has mounted significant programs to combat voter suppression in Georgia and nationally.”
The activist group Local Majority published this memo on voter suppression, which claims that requiring an ID to vote and holding off-year elections suppresses voters, among other things.
