The Cost of Food Has Risen 4.5% in the Past Year, Hitting Consumers Hard

The Department of Labors Consumer Price Index revealed last month that the cost of “food at home” went up 1.2% in September and has increased 4.5% since last year. Some examples:

Steak: +22.1%
Bacon: +19.3%
Pork Roasts and Ribs: +19.2%
Chicken: +17.1%
Ground Beef: +10.6%
Peanut Butter: +10.7%
Eggs: +12.6%
Fresh Fish: +10.7%
