House Republican Leader Todd Gilbert issued the following statement on 10/19/2021:
“I agree wholeheartedly with the package of reforms announced tonight by Glenn Youngkin. House Democrats made children less safe in school when they ended mandatory reporting of crimes like sexual battery and they’ve made it clear that school resource officers should no longer be a part of the school security equation.
“House Republicans have been and remain committed to ensuring Virginia’s children have access to a high-quality education in the safest possible environment. We are committed, like Glenn Youngkin, to repealing House Bill 257 and providing additional support for school resource officers in every school. Should the voters of Virginia put republicans in charge these will be top priorities.”
