UPDATE: Gov Northam Signs Bill Eliminating Voter ID Requirement

Earlier today the governor signed bills sponsored by Lindsey and Sen. Mamie Locke, D-Hampton, to remove the requirement that voters show a photo ID before voting. Democrats say voter photo ID laws make it harder for low-income people and minorities to vote. Then-Gov. Bob McDonnell, a Republican, signed Virginia’s photo ID law in 2013, terming it a protection against potential voter fraud.
